As for this Month of March regarding the International Women Day, I would like to take the liberty of introducing the nominee who is a Papua New Guinea community trailblazer, Pauline Woti. The Founder and Executive Board director of Kelkei Elementary and Adult Literacy School in Jiwaka Province, Papua New Guinea.

Pauline Woti is a mother and a community leader who is passionate about Community Sustainability and Youth Empowerment. One of her foremost concerns in her community is Education. Mrs Woti is a zealous woman in her community who passionately supports parents and children to have access to education. Her dream and drive for establishing the school was to help the rural communities have a proper route to more educational opportunities, and services.

Pauline Woti founded Kelkei Elementary and Adult Literacy school in 2013. After its establishment, Mrs Woti dedicated the school to the Jiwaka Government Education Board as a community agenda for quality learning and educational prosperity. Since then, Pauline has volunteered and supported the school board for almost eight (8) years.

In the first year of establishing the school, she registered almost 100 local children from different villages near and far from the ages of 4-10 years old at the Kelkei Elementary school along with 10 interested adults for literacy learning. Additionally, in the second and third years of school registration, Mrs Woti allowed the school to freely accept 50 children to attend classes from the school as an initiative to help parents who could not afford to pay the school fees. She also went on to accept parents to pay K50.00 as compulsory fee for the school in 2016. Furthermore, she continued to help educate children and the community about the importance of learning and teaching young children at an early age to be more accurate, knowledgeable, and a more well-informed citizen. Her passion in Education has supported, and helped so many young people in her community to pursue their higher education in tertiary institutions and schools as well as supporting and encouraging her community churches to work together in helping young people, women, men, and leaders to work in unity. She is a committed and dedicated trailblazer in her community and her people.

Pauline Woti is currently continuing serving as the school Executive Board of directors alongside her husband, Mr John Woti to support their school staff and students. She was recently appointed to serve as the National Women’s Coordinator for her local Church Ministry (Papua New Guinea Christian Fellowship Inc.).
